Concept

It starts out like a harmless computer game ...

With the Missio For Life app, schoolchildren can playfully learn about gender justice in India and notice how fiction and reality intermingle. As the young woman Renu, they play through a crime adventure and experience the reality of Indian women in their own country. But soon the game seems to become reality: Characters from the app suddenly start sending emails and messages to the player's cell phone. The characters in the game seem to really exist, giving interviews to important magazines or publishing their own work. It soon becomes clear that what they see is more fact than fiction.

Story

It starts out like a harmless study ...

A young woman wants to grasp her country's gender problems and is drawn deeper and deeper into a dangerous intrigue of casteism, boy preference, dowry disputes, rape and murder. Soon her own life is in danger. Will she be able to use the information she finds, save herself and others, and organize a resistance in the end?

Exhibition

See with different eyes ...

Renu and the Sari Revolution builds on an interactive exhibition by Missio For Life for youth in 8th grade and above. The schoolchildren learn about gender justice in India and the Philippines through play. They also gain an authentic insight into the difficult everyday lives of people who have to live in a world full of poverty and social inequality. The aim of the exhibition is to sensitize the young people to topics such as human trafficking, prostitution out of poverty and arranged marriages. these are then to be discussed critically and with an open mind. In doing so, the goal is the realization that it is worthwhile to help others, to be courageous and to stand up for them.

The complementary game to the Missio for Life exhibition continues to tell the story of Renu from India and allows for even deeper engagement with the topics discussed.

About Renu

The task in this project was the coordination and producing for a team of 14. The title was the follow-up commission from Missio Munich to the interactive exhibition Missio For Life and continues the story of Renu. For this project, we worked in close cooperation with the client to optimally create and incorporate content and presentation. Furthermore, techniques for the integration of the sceneries and the connection of the ARG elements were developed. In addition, QM Game Consulting was assigned the operational development, conception and game design, thus relieving the producing team.
